stringery

Pick a chord.

Hear it, play it, and see where it goes next.

The colours

Every chord belongs to a family with its own colour, so you can tell how a chord feels before you play it.

  • Major. Bright and settled.
  • Minor. Darker, inward, a little sad.
  • Dominant. Restless, wants to move home.
  • Major 7. Soft, dreamy, wide open.
  • Minor 7. Mellow and smooth.
  • Suspended. Neither happy nor sad, waiting.
  • Added. Familiar chords with an extra colour.
  • Diminished & augmented. Unstable, dramatic, in between.
